Coach Priami gets rave reviews from other TCYFL organizationsPosted October 11, 2013
Hawks Nation - we wanted to share an email the President of the TCYFL - Geoff Meyer - received from the President of another TCYFL organization. Coach Tony Priami is yet another reason why the Hawks are a CLASS ACT!!
Thanks for the Game of the Week experience last weekend. Our boys had a tremendous time!
To follow up on our conversation, I want to make sure that some recognition is given to the Featherweights PAC 10 coach from Bartlett. If there is a coach of the year award he is your runaway winner. I’m sorry that I do not remember his name, but I will never forget his actions. After a seesaw first quarter it quickly became apparent that the Hawks were going to easily win the game. They are a talented and well coached bunch. Once the handwriting was on the wall, the Bartlett team quickly adjusted their defense to allow our offense the chance to move the ball. This wonderful gesture of sportsmanship allowed 2 of my players who are first year backfield players to score touchdowns and also allowed a player who has played 3 years on the offensive line to get in the backfield and score an extra point. Their offense also adjusted and made sure that we could have some success on that side of the ball as well. This game should have been recorded and shown as a training video on how to coach youth sports in a lopsided game.
His actions allowed both teams to have fun, learn the game and most importantly learn that sportsmanship rules above all else. My team left that field with their heads up and willing to get back to work at practice and get better. I’ve read about coaches doing such things, but had never experienced it in 8 years of youth football coaching. When I thanked him after the game and acknowledged his graciousness his only comment was “ It’s my goal to make sure everyone has fun”. Tremendous."
